Wanda Xishuangbanna Water Park

Celebrating the cultural and natural riches of Xishuangbanna, China

Client Wanda Group

Part of the phenomenal 63-hectare Wanda Xishuangbanna International Resort in China’s Yunnan province, the water park is a separate gated attraction that feels like an oversized botanical garden. Inspired by the area’s rich flora, FORREC’s design features vegetation of gigantic proportions. Giant flowers provide entry points for water slides formed from enormous bamboo tubes. Guests can slide from blossom to colourful blossom.

Giant floating leaves provide passage down a wild river and gigantic jungle vines, oversized mushrooms and intertwining roots and branches form intriguing water play structures. Always mindful of local culture, FORREC created a plaza where celebrations like the much beloved annual splash festival could be enjoyed. The water park and adjacent theme park are just two of several major projects FORREC is currently completing for the Wanda Group in China.
