The emerging Tianjin area in China needed a thriving mixed-use community. The developer tapped into FORREC’s breadth of themed master planning experience to design a 3600-acre plan that centered on three key aspects: ecology, entertainment, and residential communities.
The epic site was purposefully designed with a contiguous system of roads, transit, greenbelts, pedestrian links and waterways
that unites all the neighborhoods and provides seamless connectivity to the perimeter developments. Urban design encourages walkability and access between the districts and neighborhoods and open space. The result is a new urban district that links to the surroundings, prioritizing the landscape; promoting social engagement; and offering a diverse park system that connects the community to a revitalized internal landscape and waterfront.
The master plan for this mixed-use area has a central hub that combines a dazzling waterfront with visitor attractions, hotels, dining and shopping. Beautiful, canal-lined streets lead into this development past a wetland sanctuary to residential communities. Carefully planned to balance nature with city living, FORREC’s concept unites visitors and residents with opportunities for recreation, entertainment, shopping, and other urban activities without compromising nature.
