According to local legend, a family of dragons, sent by the gods to help defend the land, began spitting out jewels and jade that became became the islands of Ha Long Bay. Literally meaning ‘descending dragon,’ Ha Long is a development that FORREC planned with the greatest sensitivity to the site, its cultural significance and the incredible potential it could fulfill.
Using water as an organizing element, FORREC’s master plan for the 36+ hectare site created a collection of islands that echoed the shape of a dragon. The project includes a circular marina, retail zone with shops, restaurants and a festival plaza where up to 1,000 people could celebrate local culture, resort hotels and residential neighbourhoods.
