Client Gyeongju World Resort
When workshops with our client revealed the Korean people’s love of winter and longing for snow, FORREC was inspired to create an alpine village where downhill racing, quaint shops and luxurious après ski accommodation give guests a winter experience year round. Rides and attractions based on competitive winter sports were designed for real snow, with the capability to change over to all-season operation.
The majestic stone and wood architecture of the world’s most famous ski resorts inspired the spectacular lakeside hotel, which provides thematic connectivity and easy access to the alpine village. The buildings and landscape elements in the village have a permanent dusting of ‘snow’ on the highest points, with the other seasons expressed in window boxes and ground-level plantings.
