In 2003, HFEC reached out to FORREC to assess their existing facilities and operations to help vision a long-term plan to take Dollywood to the next level. Wildwood Grove is situated in one of the expanded areas of the plan. Inspired by Dolly Parton’s dreams as a child, Wildwood Grove is Dollywood’s first fully themed land in several years. Ms. Parton is a figure of whimsy and magic and we wanted to emulate Dolly herself in Wildwood Grove. Collaborating with HFEC’s creative studio, FORREC worked on the concept refinement, artistic direction, master planning, and architectural development of all themed facades and queues to make the vision come alive. We ensured the whole space was accessible for anyone, designing grading that was wheelchair-friendly and plenty of seating. From the entry way carved out of a log, to the nature-themed rides, the creek and the impressive Wildwood Tree, adorned with several hundred butterflies, Wildwood Grove has something for everyone.
